Perfect 35th Birthday

This weekend is something special.

On Saturday, I planned out my birthday to be a no-writing day. As early as Friday Night, C took me to KCC to have dinner and to treat me to a hair spa in David’s Salon. I got an iced coffee to help wake me up from the afternoon slump after office hours.

On Saturday morning, I got up and made myself a glass of coffee. I got ready to go to church, bringing along last year’s candles with me. They’re a bit discolored but still are able to produce a light and a sorry box of matches.

I thought a mass was in order in the church. But all was quiet and the priest was arranging for everything indoors. I eventually found a spot to light candles in the garden. Here’s where C asked the person tending to the garden if there was any lechon for the village’s fiesta.

After my annual birthday ritual, we headed to KCC for breakfast. Between KFC and Dennis Coffee Garden, we opted for the latter for some well-loved satti. C purchased a pack of traditional cookies.

I took up his offer of a manicure and pedicure in Sir J’s Salon. We then took the car to the side of the mall and bought a small can of salted caramel cheesecake. This, in my opinion, is the perfect way to spend my birthday. It’s “buy your own cheesecake day because the family baker is on travel” mode.

Throughout the day, there were many greetings pouring in from social media. It became too tiring to reply to all of them one by one. But I’m quite content to be able to have Japanese food for lunch. Thank you Hanazono!

You know that you’re ageing when your birthday itinerary includes a siesta. All in all, my heart is full. I’m grateful to have spent it with my close people. Here’s to more adventures in the years to come.

School Matters | Procrastination and Acknowledgments

Today, I'm not a pretty sight.

Procrastination is my main enemy. I did promise my mentor that I'd be polishing my paper today in time for my advisor to edit it up and eventually sign the endorsement form after I have tabulated all the results from the respondents.

And where am I now? Still in the part of Related Literature and summarizing each one.

I hate myself.

I'm blaming it on my sinusitis. I ran out of medicine. Last night was the last piece. This morning I only have my antihistamine. It was also a bad idea for me to sweep the floor this morning. But I guess I am only making up excuses.

There is one thing positive about it though, and that is I wrote the Acknowledgments section already. At least that's out of the way.

But enough yapping. I should be getting onto it, and then maybe rewarding myself later for a job well done. How about some ice cream then?

Unboxing and Review | Rapoo K800 Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard + What Happened to my Laptop’s Keyboard

Hey, I’m a writer, not a fighter LOL.

So when my laptop’s keyboards gave me issues, the first impulse was to have it looked at by technicians. I brought my unit to a local repair shop. Then Carl was able to pick it up after three days. The diagnosis was that the flex cable had to be replaced and the keys had to be cleaned. They even gave me a week’s warranty.

But, alas, the same problem occurred and we even shelled out money for it. However, I have deadlines and assignments. I opted to try another option, and that is to have a Bluetooth keyboard on hand.

This Rapoo K800 Wireless USB Keyboard is my third unit after Carl bought me the Rapoo E1050, and the Manhattan KW1 Ultra Slim Wireless USB Keyboard after that. I loooove the Rapoo keyboard. It’s smooth, effortless, and lightweight. I absolutely have no complaints. But it also meant added baggage to my gear every day. I lug around my 14-inch laptop, mouse, notebooks, and my personals in a bag, plus my new wireless keyboard.

I thought that I need another one for the office so that I could leave the first one at home. I opt to do some productive stuff at home, such as freelance writing, obligations for school, and vlogging.

Well, I tried to extend my patience with the Manhattan Slim chiclet keyboard but to no avail.

I saw in a video that I need to press more keys to make sure all of them work and have a smooth response, so that’s what I did for a period. But it hurt my fingers in the long run. And I know that I deserve something smooth and portable.

I didn’t realize how important the keyboard is until after I became frustrated with it.

And I do miss writing on the laptop’s keyboards.

I told myself that once I am able to save up for a new laptop, I might be able to move to the iOS ecosystem if the budget permits. Perhaps that transition can grow old with me and I can do good with vlogging and my freelance writing gigs on the side. I need efficient gear in order to be productive so I can focus on writing more.

Review:

I love that it is lightweight and quite portable. I can pick it up with one hand. It can fit in my backpack. When I’m done, I can keep it in my drawer.

It also looks good on my desk when it’s set up.

I think it is going to be handy especially if I decide to bring it along during travels.
