Viva Nuestra Senyora La Virgen Del Pilar + Tang's Sweet Orange Makes Waves At The Zamboanga Regatta

Early on a bleak Saturday morning, we went to witness the Regatta event in RT Lim Boulevard. The colorful vintas were a welcome contrast against the gray horizon. Everybody has been waiting for the Regatta, last year's having been cancelled because of the siege.

I was invited by Ms. Grace Bermejo to join the Tang Philippines Team as they sponsored various events in the city. Tang has also activated the newest flavor to the market, Tang Sweet Orange. Sweet Orange is specially formulated for Mindanao, having studied the preferences of Mindanaoans when it comes to refreshing beverages. #TimplangAto

I have to say that the activation was a successful one, spectators were able to sample the new flavor as they cheered on the vintas racing on that eventful morning.

Over a hundred vinta sailors showed up to compete. The Regatta has been an attraction for as long as the Zamboanguenos can remember. Lawrence Lorico, Assistant Brand Manager from Tang Philippines explained that the Regatta reflects the brand, that it is an inviting and colorful event.

Even the Coast Guard has its own colorful vinta.

Gerald Anderson is the endorser of Tang Sweet Orange #TimplangAto

Tang also gave away prizes for the Regatta winners.

What's impressive is that Tang also brought in three bigger trucks containing the refreshing Sweet Orange drinks for on the spot refill.

People from all walks of life went to witness the Regatta. It was a colorful morning, and as the day progressed, the sun came out to brighten the day. Just like Mi Ciudad, she has risen from a dark nightmare and is slowly facing the beauty and color of the present.

Book Review: The Most Important Meal of Their Lives by Send a Cow UK #BestStart

Photo from Dietician Without Borders

We hear it over and over again, that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When we are concerned about our figure, our weight, we tend to skip breakfast and get on with our day. But for children who need the fuel to get through school and are stricken by poverty, skipping breakfast may not be such a wise choice. In fact, many children in Africa face overwhelming poverty, putting their ambitions on a very elusive pedestal.

Send A Cow UK’s project is to introduce this book and highlighting breakfast choices of historical and iconic figures such as Florence Nightingale, Nelson Mandela, Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa and Albert Einstein.

We know a lot of these leaders in terms of their accomplishments in leadership, industries, humanitarian causes and science. The Most Important Meals Of Their Lives gives an idea of what these greats had for their breakfasts.

The book also features recipes and other interesting facts like how astronauts followed strict lightweight diets in portions like bacon squares and cookie sugar cubes.

Alber Einstein: Fried eggs and honey, crisp rolls and decaffeinated coffee
What would have happened if Albert Einstein did not have breakfast when he first formulated the Theory Of Relativity? Did you know that he stuck to a vegetarian diet? The Great Eats also reveals that he had a personal invention that was positioned on his table to decaffeinate his coffee.

Christopher Columbus: Hardtack and legumes stew
Christopher Columbus relied on what stock he had on board as he circumnavigated the world. He may have also discovered all manner of culinary peculiarities and other exotic flavours during his journeys and explorations of the New World.

Jane Austen: pound cake, tea, cocoa and toast
As an English novelist, Jane Austen has secured her place in literary history. She has introduced women with wit and social insights in her works. But not many readers know that "breakfast in the Austen household was traditionally served at 9am each morning, in the dining or drawing room..., it was Jane Austen’s job to prepare a feast of this kind."

Thomas Edison: Apple dumplings
Where would we be if Thomas Edison, an industrial leader and icon, have not had breakfast on the day he had that Eureka moment when he figured out his first light bulb invention? He was a conscious foodie but he was particularly fond of apple dumplings.

Winston Churchill: poached egg, cold meat, toast and grapefruit
British politician and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and again in 1951 to 1955,  Sir Winston Churchill is widely regarded as one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 20th century. His preferred breakfast was documented on the back of a menu while on his last flight to the USA as Prime Minister in 1954.

What I Learned From the Book

I particularly like pancakes. They are my personal comfort food and I like them lathered with butter, so that means the more butter, the better, and I top it off my maple syrup. It turns out, "Honest Abe" Abraham Lincoln could gobble up Kentucky corn cakes faster than anyone can make them, and the brave Rosa Parks also adored featherlite pancakes. My guess is that she could have had it on the day she refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on a bus.

Other notable figures in the book are Florence Nightingale, William Shakespeare, Mother Teresa, First Men on the Moon, Barack Obama, Cleopatra, Charles Darwin, Amelia Earhart, Sigmund Freud, Mahatma Gandhi, and Nelson Mandela.

Who Would Enjoy This Book

This is a great library addition for foodies, historians, chefs in the making, bookworms, those looking for new breakfast recipes to try or anyone who is a fan of these historical icons. As for me, I consider myself lucky to have an e-book copy of this book and have had a glimpse of the breakfasts of these great leaders.

Try This! MyBeautyCompare, A Practical Beauty Products Matching Service For Your Needs..

Credits: www.frmheadtotoe.com

With thousands of products in the industry catering to different types of skin, how would you know which one is suited for you? I have to admit that it can be overwhelming somehow. I could go on ahead and dive into trying new products but it would mean having to wait for weeks for visible results to appear, and what about having to spend money and in the end not get the results I’ve wanted to achieve? Going by this method might seem time-consuming and also a waste of effort, right?

Now wouldn’t it be good to have an automated matching service online for all your beauty needs based on your profile? My Beauty Compare does just that. It’s free to use, easy and you get leads very quickly. Visit the site and fill out the details being asked and you can immediately find the beauty products that suit your needs. It’s the very first beauty comparison site of its kind. Clever idea, isn’t it?

How was my experience?

The quiz is detailed and personalized, from skin type, complexion, skin concerns, eye color, hair color, texture and length, daily water and alcohol consumption,  even specified if I were a smoker or not. After clicking on the confirmation email, you can get started.

I like lipstick and have been playing it safe with just pink for some time now because that’s what I normally get from beauty subscription boxes and it’s a staple when it comes to work. But I was surprised to find four beauty product matches under lipstick and it was a raincheck for me, even if I have Asian features and brown skin, I can still dare to wear (Maybelline) Color Sensational Vivid Lipstick and (Lancôme) L'Absolu Nu Replenishing & Enhancing Lipcolor. What’s great is that I also get to see the prices of each listed product and helpful reviews from users who have had experience with their recommendations from My Beauty Compare. Almost all of them are satisfied with their new beauty discoveries.

Next, I was next to empty with my current body wash and I was eager to see what else is out there. I enjoy nice, calming showers and I was surprise when my top matches led me to (Victoria Secret) Dream Angels Heavenly Angel Body Wash (only £7.20!) and (Anna Sui) Dolly Girl On The Beach Shower Gel. I wasn’t even aware that Ana Sui had a shower gel available.

As for a little color, I like playing with eyeshadow. I am ultimately in love with my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette and was thinking of what else is out there in terms of color since I’ve been an Urban Decay loyalist for long enough. I now can’t wait to try out (DIOR) 5COULEURS Eyeshadow Palette Summer Look which I would not have discovered without My Beauty Compare.

The Verdict

I found My Beauty Compare to be a helpful tool in helping me discover new beauty finds that I would not otherwise be aware of because there are certain brands that I patronize. However, with this new matching service, I am able to take a second look at the new products that are on the market today. I can say that I will staying on for longer hours checking out what else I can try the next time I reach an empty tube of personal care and beauty needs.
