Before I Retire for the Night

Before I retire for the night, let me just say that today is a holiday and I took the time to work on parts of my project paper for graduate school.

I realize that I have procrastinated long enough, and that I should be tackling things one at a time.

To be honest, one of the reasons why it took me so long was because I was too idealistic to have a complete set of respondents. When in reality, I had to accept the fact that the time has long passed, and that I must make do with what I have.

And so, the earlier I accept that, the better.

If I want to graduate next year, I have to put in the work and prepare myself for the next round of defense.

So far, I am happy with what I have worked with. And I'm proud to say that I did it all on my own. It won't be long, and I will be finalizing my paper, improving it and sorting out the details.

I can't wait to celebrate this milestone with C and my family.

I just really need to close this chapter of my life instead of wondering about the what ifs.

That's just something for me to dream while I get my rest tonight. Tomorrow is another day.

Note: The seaport image is about my research on seaport cities. I thought that will serve as a fair enough warning LOL.

In Love With My New Bluetooth Keyboard and Thinking of Scandi Home Office Setup

I'm just letting it all out here, that I am simply grateful and enjoying my new Bluetooth keyboard bought by C.

A little background story, my Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 of two years was showing issues with the keyboard. I was irritated for days, even a couple of weeks. Then a colleague from work suggested to drop it off a local computer repair shop-and I did on the weekend. The diagnosis and repair took two days.

C picked it up after having paid the fee of Php 600. The technicians said that all they did was clean the keyboard and replace the flex cable. It has a warranty of seven days.

I was happy until I tried it out again. The same problems occurred.

Rapoo E1050 Bluetooth Keyboard

C decided to buy me a Bluetooth keyboard, and I love it! For only Php 735, it has the following features:

1. Up to 12 months battery life
2. Media control
3. Reliable 2.4 GHz wireless connection
4. Spill-resistant design
5. Laser carved keycap

It comes with a free AA battery, Bluetooth adaptor, and a printed manual.

I love the size, it's compact without feeling too small, and it's lightweight making it quite portable. In the event that I will decide to have a home office setup in the future, this smooth keyboard has a sure spot on my desk.

In our discussion, C offered a desktop to acquire for our home. It can double as a home office setup for us. Now that the topic has spilled onto a home office, I thought of what design and elements should go into it.

It has to be minimalist, since we live in a tiny home and our space is limited. A quick search led me to these:

A home office definitely needs a desk. This solid pine desk has a nice, natural wood finish. Two drawers allow for storage and decluttering of desk accessories and even wireless hardware such as a mouse and keyboard. It's just the right size for our space.

Lazy Chair Backrest with Stool

Every desk needs a comfortable chair to go with it. I've been seeing this chair on social media and thought, if I were working from home, this is quite a good addition.

It is referred to as a lazy chair. I've seen videos of it! It is ergonomic, the back can be adjusted, it comes with a foot stool in matching color and has a side pocket for gadgets and small books. It has a full chair cushion with pillow backrest. I've seen one in Shopee, and at only Phpo 1,599 this one is a definite steal for me.

There are other colors such as blue and pink. I am a pink lover myself, but if two of us were to share a home office, I think gray is the right choice and to match our gray loveseat as well.

Pilea Sharing Plant

Greenery is a must for a home office. Every now and then, staring at something green helps to relieve the eyes. This adorable plant in a ceramic pot adds just the right touch of greenery on a desk. Mounted in a plant stand, it's perfect for any Scandi-inspired space.

Petite Beacon LED Desk Lamp

I have a reading lamp of my own, but this one is too cute not to mention. It's sleek and minimalist, which goes well with most Scandi design. This will pair nicely on a desk and still leave enough space for our laptops and other writing paraphernalia.

Conclusion

I don't need much for a home office. In fact, the basics are enough to keep me busy and productive. I already have my keyboard, and I'm good to go. With the modern strategies being adopted by companies all over the globe, and the trends of productive, nomadic lifestyles, working from home is not far from reality. Thus, a home office setup just might make sense for me soon.
