#Win Wire Jewelry From Christine's Books and Baubles Giveaway!

The beauty of wearing handmade items is that you know it's unique, that nobody else has the same accessory because it's one of a kind. This is one reason why Raisie Speaks likes to support creatives like Ms. Christine Fabian-Ruste, a lady with the passion to turn beads and wires into inspired colors and forms.

In Christine's Books and Baubles, there are also Argain Oil based beauty products and secondhand books for sale, (I'd go over there asap if I were you). That's not taking for granted the beautiful wire jewelry such as pendants, bracelets, rings and necklaces. My favorites are chunky beads and choker necklaces, as my Mom likes to call them, and varying hues of green, blue, pink and purple. You can choose your own favorites and you will be assured that owning a work of art handmade from Ms. Christine herself is surely affordable.

The generous shop owner has also decided to give away some of her creations. But first, a look at the prizes:

Prize A
The focus against the lilac beads is balanced out by the coral diagonal pendant on the charming bracelet. The three tone wire ring is a part of her New Year Collection and can be worn with a stack of silver rings to produce a layered look.

The tangerine, emerald and metals bracelet is great when worn with a gray or brown shirt, complete the outfit by wearing complementing earrings and a ring making use of the same tangerine beads-great for summer and winter season!

Prize B

I don't think anyone has thought of combining colorful wooden beads and neutral beads to create a bracelet that has a character of its own, but Ms. Christine dared-and succeeded! Can't afford a sapphire? Not to worry, you can still sport this cute cut blue bead ring and see the way the light disperses- at least it's handmade!
Discs and rounds are the theme of the pink, red and disc bracelet, just the perfect pair to the red bead set in gold wire ring (a personal fave-shame I can't join my own giveaway).

Hint: guys can still join and gift these prizes to their Moms, sisters, aunts and girlfriends or best friends.

There are two lucky winners for this particular giveaway, and if you happen to be one of them, be sure to take very good care of these, they're surely bound to be the start of conversation between wire jewelry aficionados! Good luck!

Raisie Speaks- The Beginning + Blogversary Giveaway

Two years ago, I started a blog purely to record all the books I have read, the authors I have been pining after, and the books I had on my wishlist-because I was crazy like that. I didn't expect to complete my wishlist, which explains why until now it's nowhere near halfway complete because the wishlist seems to be longer compared to my actual acquisitions, plus the fact that like any other working person, I am on a budget.

So you get the tone of this blog in the beginning, at least. That it was meant for books and literature.

Then somewhere along the way, it evolved into a beauty blog. Barely just dipping into the world of makeup and not knowing the first thing about the differences with contouring and just concealing, here I am sharing my adventures on skin care and beauty (again) on a budget.

And from books, the tag also extended to beauty.

The ride on a whole was a mixture of ups and downs. What could a small town blogger come up with? How on earth would it be interesting? Was my life and blog worth sharing? In those two years, I learned that there were some things worth sharing and some things worth keeping private, and was kind of careful in balancing the two. I have met fellow bloggers, got to know them a bit and most importantly, got to know who my readers were. I was reaching out and being influential to a group of  readers who were interested in what I had to say.

Sometimes, I didn't have the time. There was a time that I posted only a single entry for a month! But the thing bout blogging is, I can always come back. It's tough especially if author of said blog has a day job that can be downright challenging which also entails writing on a completely different topography- but here I am still writing my heart out, waiting, waiting, waiting for what-I don't even have the answer. But as long as Raisie Speaks is still alive and online, I would be forever grateful to those who read it and interact with me.

This one's for you.

There are two prizes! Which one is yours?

Raisie Speaks: 3 Tips To Save Money On Magazine Copies

Here I am again on money saving tips when it comes to reading materials. It just goes to show how much of a cheapskate I am! This time, I am going to help you save money when it comes to buying magazine copies. If you are from Zamboanga, I can mention specific places where you can find bargains. These tips, I have discovered when buying magazines for my Mom. Yes, she does not have patience to read novels with small fonts in print. Our favorites are Real Living, Yummy and Good Housekeeping, yeah, you get the idea…

So are you ready? Let’s start.

1. Buy Back Issues
I do my grocery shopping at Mindpro and every time I pass by the Bloomingdale’s ground floor section, I get to check the magazine stands and look for titles I could bring home especially during the weekends. I look for those that my Mom would also appreciate. We are in the middle of moving furniture at home, so anything related to lifestyle and home is good.

Here is a secret I am sharing with you. You don’t really have to buy the month’s latest issue unless there is content that you really need or are really interested in. The good thing about last month’s unsold issue is that Bloomingdale’s sometimes includes a back issue of another unsold magazine copy and you can get two magazines for the price of one. The next time you pass by to do your grocery shopping, you can do the same practice with the next back issue.

2. Buy A Full Year Subscription

Okay, there are advantages when you get a full year subscription. I am thinking about getting my Mom a full subscription for her birthday to Real Living because she likes to get ideas for home décor from the articles of said publication.

Full year subscribers usually get priority when the copies are released and you can expect yours at the start of every month, about the same time as the copies hit magazine stands. Another plus about annual subscriptions is that you can save more and not worry for a full year. You will find that picking up separate issues from magazine stands are costlier whereas full subscriptions are already offered at discounted prices. And here is another bonus, if the publication decides to include freebies-yep, you get to have first dibs and not worry about being beaten to by someone else!

  3. (If You Are From Zamboanga) Go To The Sta. Maria-Pasonanca Jeepney Paradahan and Look For That Tambakan ng Mga Magazine Shop in Campaner Street

Now, this place is a go-to when you are conscious about reading material like I am, and if you want to start saving on magazine copies, be my guest. The Tambakan Ng Mga Magazine is not the shop’s name, though when you go looking for it, you can’t miss it. Now this is dumped magazine central-no kidding. You can get magazines at a discount, though there is a catch. If the magazines do come with freebies, most likely someone has already helped him or herself. =)

Whew. Now. That’s. About. It.

How did you find these tips? Are they helpful for you even if you are not from ZC? How do you save money on magazine subscriptions? You can share your thoughts with me in the comments below.

I have two giveaways ongoing which you can join if you are feeling lucky!
