Unboxing and Review | Rapoo K800 Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard + What Happened to my Laptop’s Keyboard

Hey, I’m a writer, not a fighter LOL.

So when my laptop’s keyboards gave me issues, the first impulse was to have it looked at by technicians. I brought my unit to a local repair shop. Then Carl was able to pick it up after three days. The diagnosis was that the flex cable had to be replaced and the keys had to be cleaned. They even gave me a week’s warranty.

But, alas, the same problem occurred and we even shelled out money for it. However, I have deadlines and assignments. I opted to try another option, and that is to have a Bluetooth keyboard on hand.

This Rapoo K800 Wireless USB Keyboard is my third unit after Carl bought me the Rapoo E1050, and the Manhattan KW1 Ultra Slim Wireless USB Keyboard after that. I loooove the Rapoo keyboard. It’s smooth, effortless, and lightweight. I absolutely have no complaints. But it also meant added baggage to my gear every day. I lug around my 14-inch laptop, mouse, notebooks, and my personals in a bag, plus my new wireless keyboard.

I thought that I need another one for the office so that I could leave the first one at home. I opt to do some productive stuff at home, such as freelance writing, obligations for school, and vlogging.

Well, I tried to extend my patience with the Manhattan Slim chiclet keyboard but to no avail.

I saw in a video that I need to press more keys to make sure all of them work and have a smooth response, so that’s what I did for a period. But it hurt my fingers in the long run. And I know that I deserve something smooth and portable.

I didn’t realize how important the keyboard is until after I became frustrated with it.

And I do miss writing on the laptop’s keyboards.

I told myself that once I am able to save up for a new laptop, I might be able to move to the iOS ecosystem if the budget permits. Perhaps that transition can grow old with me and I can do good with vlogging and my freelance writing gigs on the side. I need efficient gear in order to be productive so I can focus on writing more.

Review:

I love that it is lightweight and quite portable. I can pick it up with one hand. It can fit in my backpack. When I’m done, I can keep it in my drawer.

It also looks good on my desk when it’s set up.

I think it is going to be handy especially if I decide to bring it along during travels.

What’s On My Gears Packing List -August 2018 Edition

My upcoming travel is only a couple of weeks away, and as soon as August hits, you know I’m all about the excitement already. I’ve thought about what I will be needing, and here’s a few of them, since I already have a new replacement luggage on the way, that’s crossed off my things I need list. In the meantime, here are some stuff that I should never forget while on travel:

1. Good Walking Shoes

Alright let me tell you something about good walking shoes for traveling. I was in China this year for a two-week long training and at the end of it, our organizers have arranged for visits to Beijing and Shanghai, and of course, what visit in Beijing is not complete without going to the Great Wall right?  Some well-seasoned travelers in our group were smart packers and pulled out good walking shoes for the Great Wall visit. Luckily, I found a pair of good shoes in the SciTech Outlet Park in Beijing the night before and bought myself the Nike Flex Training 7 for Women for just RMB 299 (Chinese Reminbi) approximately Php 2,392 that time and in my size too. All I had with me at the start of the trip were a pair of slippers and black loafers.

Lesson learned, be prepared for long distance walking and running and hiking and invest in good shoes to bring with you, even airports can be vast and cold. So I’m bringing the same pair with me to my escapade next month.

2. Powerbank

Not a lot of people know this, but my Asus powerbank got confiscated in Guangzhou airport  before my connecting flight to Tianjin, because apparently, powerbanks are not allowed to be checked in and in China, inspection and security can be tough. I feel dumb that I didn’t pull out my Asus pink powerbank because it’s a convenient size to carry around, (only the size of a credit card, but still, as I took pretty good care of it to last me a couple of years).

A couple of weeks ago, C told me that he bought me a replacement and it’s not just any powerbank. It’s the Romoss Sense 6 LED 20000mAh Power Bank and oooh does it pack power. This is just what I need for our upcoming tour and it’s time to put it to the test. Imagine days of walking around and having to take all those photos and having to recharge when the need calls for it. How convenient! And I’m lucky to have a travel partner as thoughtful as C.

3. A Hat

And finally, this may sound so simple but yet, the last time I was out and now that I think about it, I had more than enough space in my luggage, I just didn’t bother to bring a hat for those day excursions. You see, I’m fond of ancient, historical and architectural sites, and a hat is just the most basic thing I could have brought along. Luckily there were souvenir shops in the Great Wall’s Beijing Station, which was also one of the most famous stations of the ancient landmark. I bought one at only RMB 30 or Yuan and brought it with me to all the other visits such as Tiananmen Square and all throughout Shanghai. It ended up on my father’s wall collection of all black hats.

Even while on travel, it’s still important to battle the heat and a hat is just one simple thing that I simply overlooked. Don’t mind me if I help myself to something similar like a gray or pink one.

And so, folks, these are some lessons that I’ve learned and can share with you. As of now I'm already excited so I'll be daydreaming about the attractions I'd want to visit too. See you soon!

School

I think school affairs have every reason to cause me my acne lol. They do appear when I’m stressed. 12 units is no joke, as I’m meeting the minimum for my school load.

I’ve finished my report in Urban Planning class yesterday. That leaves my report for Fiscal Policy and then the exam for Friday class which means I have to read everyone else’s input on the subject. So, add to that, here we go second quarter of the semester whoohooo!

Writing

Well I managed to score a few online finds, in the like of new Tim Holtz washi and also Michaels stamp washi. I’m in love with the pink Gelly Roll pen, it’s Php 56 each and I can’t stop thinking about trying out a new set. I’m just really just fond of it.

I’ve thought of indulging in Bible journaling, maybe that can help me out?

My laptop needs a sleeve and I thought I should give Lazada one more try before I give it up. I’m still eyeing that Sakura Gelly Roll set…. I still can’t get over it lol.

Review: Travelon Anti-Theft Classic Light Slim Bag

Perhaps I was inspired and amazed with the convenience that a small body bag can offer during travels. C has one and it’s been everywhere: Pampanga, Cebu, Baguio, Manila. On the other hand, I’m the more switchy-bags person, and I have this crazy habit of dumping in a lot of useless stuff in my bag that can make my load heavier and give me aching shoulders, even just an afternoon in the mall or going to a cafĂ©. One time during the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Clark, I dumped my mirrorless camera and other stuff in a hot pink tote bag like I would on a day in the beach. It looked cute, yes, but it was far from practical LOL.

But that changed with the Travelon bag that we got me from Travel Club.
Travelon Anti-Theft Classic Light Slim Bag in Lush Blue

It’s slim and compact and it carries my essentials very well. It also has packed anti-theft features. I told myself that I’d use it on travel and the road trip to Pagadian was the right chance to use it.

Second Compartment with Spare Zipper Attached

What's To Love?

The material is smooth and sits very comfortably in a bus window seat, even on my lap when back riding on a motorbike. The secret pockets inside can carry a lot of knick-knacks, even a long wallet and relevant pockets for a passport and cash.

It has roomy compartments, two for regular stuff, one in the front for small things like lip balm, OTG USB and the slip on pocket at the back is for headphones. Even the main compartment is large enough to hold a tablet and can even stay secure because of a zip wall pocket. The front compartment has an interior organizer and many slots for cards and other important documents. In short, it really just has a lot of pockets.

I also love that I can carry the Sony point and shoot for documenting travel memories with C on the road, even special occasions like friends’ weddings and just precious moments.

It’s made of anti-slash material but it’s smooth to the touch and even has RFID blocking technology.  For peace of mind, the zippers lock to shoo away those pickpockets during your travels. Who knows what can happen during rush hours in public transport or even in crowded, public places.

Front Pocket features RFID Protection Feature

RFID Protection

The front pocket integrates an RFID blocking technology that’s similar to other travel wallets to help prevent skimming of information from credit cards and even electronic passports. If your credit cards, passports and even driver’s licenses come with radio frequency identification chips that can transmit data wirelessly, this can help insulate RFID skimming. You don’t want hackers obtaining whole credit card information from you now, do you?

Ready to head out with my Travelon Slim Bag

Versatile Style

On top of it all, I like that it’s a versatile style. I’m fond of shoulder bags so I just swing it over my shoulder and I head on out, now that’s for my feminine preferences. But during travel, I follow as the boys do and wear it cross-body for hands-free movement especially during long road trips.
And the best part? No more aching shoulders! It’s not just for urban exploration, it’s also great for outdoor day hikes.

Travelon has made it possible to explore easier and safer, and with sleek bags for essentials in new places. The Classic Light Slim Bag retails for Php 2,390.00 in Travel Club. Travel Club is located in the second floor of KCC Mall de Zamboanga beside Yellow Cab Pizza.
